Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I have always played sports my whole life and when my competitive playing ended I was always looking for the next thing I could pursue which lead me to CrossFit. I knew CrossFit was good but like most I was afraid to try it but after that first workout that kicked my ass I was hooked!

Why did you become a Coach?

I have always been into fitness and sports and it lead me to coaching and later training as I love being able to help people no matter how small that help is, I love coaching and sharing what I love with others.

What’s your favourite movement?

Pull ups and most gymnastics movements

What is your favorite cheat food?

Pizza and Oreos(not really a cheat when you eat them all the time!)

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

None

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I played Soccer growing up but fell out of the rhythm of going to the gym after finishing school.  After a number of unsuccessful attempts of trying to start a fitness regimen on my own, I was introduced to Crossfit L5.  My first class was the challenge I was looking for, I was impressed by the constantly varied programming in an incredible welcoming social environment-I was hooked!

Why did you become a Coach?

I became a coach because I wanted to be a part of our member’s fitness journey’s.  Everyone has a diverse set of motives and goals when they come to Crossfit L5 and I think it is exciting to help people realize those goals.  I find great joy in helping improve the lives, health and happiness of our members!

What’s your favourite movement?

Back squats, squat cleans and pistols

What is your favorite cheat food?

Chocolate! Mini eggs, creme eggs, kinder eggs….

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

Hands down, Xena the Warrior Princess.  She kicked ass unapologetically, empowering and inspiring a generation of strong girls and women everywhere.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I enjoy playing sports however it tends to be seasonal. CrossFit enables me to stay active and competitive all year round. CrossFit has also provided me with the conditioning that allows me to actively continue with playing sports.

Why did you become a Coach?

I like seeing people become a better version of themselves. Being a trainer allows me to participate and guide in that individuals journey. I find being part of that progress is fulfilling. Training also allows me to become cognizant of my own progress and my learning needs.

What’s your favourite movement?

Thruster, handstand walk and muscle up.

What is your favorite cheat food?

Red Velvet cheesecake and wings

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

Batman is my favorite superhero because although he has no superpowers, he still kicks ass.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I was out of shape and needed to change my lifestyle for the better.  CrossFit put me on the path to being a stronger, healthier, happier version of myself.

Why did you become a coach?

My love for CrossFit started the day I walked through the doors.  It was out of my comfort zone but knew early on that I wanted to tap into this passion and take on a leadership role in the gym.  I love helping others and seeing them push their bodies and minds to the limit and achieve things they never imagines possible.

What’s your favourite movement?

Gymnastic movements like handstand walks, pull ups, and muscle ups.

What is your favourite cheat meal?

Pizza!

What’s your favourite Superhero and why?

Domino from Deadpool 2. She’s extremely lucky and things just work out perfectly for her in every situation.

 

Jason Hermosa

Why did I get into fitness?

I got into fitness in high school at the age of 16 as a way to lose weight and get stronger.  I was overweight in highschool, so I decided to join a strength training class to learn how to lift weights, learn about nutrition and the human body, and establish fitness goals.

I didn’t know I would become so passionate about it at the timeout when I saw the affect it was having on me I couldn’t go back to the same lifestyle.  Now a decade later I’m still keeping up with my fitness as it continues to crush me.

Why did I become a Coach?

I’ve always enjoyed teaching and helping others.  I’ve been a teacher of different activities since I was 14. When I joined L5 as a member I remember seeing the impact the programming and coaching had on the members and how it changed their overall fitness completely.  I wanted to be a part of that.  Seeing the members make the progress they have, whether it’s finally being able to do a pull-up or hitting those double under, is an incredibly satisfying feeling.

Favourite Movements/exercise?

Handstand walks, Snatches

Favourite Cheat meal?

Lots and lots of chicken wings!

Favourite Superhero and why?

Captain America-not a big superhero fan, but I watched one of his movies and liked how he lead by example, had integrity and was an athletic monster.

Natasha Meikle

Why did you get into Fitness (CrossFit)?

I played competitive sports my whole life, but despite being regular at a big box gym, I still craved intensity and competition.  After seeing videos in Crossfit I decided to try it out and was instantly hooked!

Why did you become a Coach?

I love fitness and I love people!  I am always inspired by seeing members crush their goals and I want to help people achieve their goals.  I’ve learned so much through our members and I want to share that knowledge with others.

Favourite movement/exercise?

Double unders, Handstands, push ups, thrusters, Hang Cleans

Favourite Cheat Meal?

Chocolate and Pasta!

Favourite Superhero and why?

Wonder Woman! Not only is she a badass but she’s smart, wise, and compassionate.
